Do
you need to Declutter?
Does the following scenario describe you?
The doorbell rings, does your heart sink at the thought of unexpected
guests?
Do you run through in your mind, what you can achieve in the 5 minutes
it takes to make a cup of tea - what you can do to make your house look
more respectable? (put toilet cleaner down the loo, throw toys / clothes
/ magazines into drawers, grab the duvet – cover the bed & close
as many doors as possible to interior rooms)
Do you then breathe a sigh of relief when you realise it's just the postman,
who has a parcel for you that will not fit through the letter box?
If you are still not sure, look at the following questions.
- Do you leave dirty dishes in the sink. Or if you have a dishwasher,
do you empty the clean items or take them from the dishwasher as you
need them.
- Are your clothes hung in wardrobes and neatly stacked in drawers.
What percentage of your clothes have you worn in the last year.
- When you bring home newspapers / magazines, do you read them and dispose
of them on the same day.
- Do you have clutter that prevents you accessing certain rooms or areas
of your home.
- Looking at your surfaces – tables, chairs, stairs, floors –
are they free of clutter.
- Are your videos / DVD’s / C.D’s in the right cover’s
and stacked neatly.
- Do you have out of date food in your cupboards and fridge / freezer.
- Do you put things in a "safe place", never to find them
again.
- Do you put your keys in the same place each evening.
- Are you able to use furniture for its intended purpose.
- Do you open and action your post on a daily basis.
Now ask your self the following questions:
- How energetic are you when you wake up in the morning.
- Do you have difficulty in starting & finishing projects.
- Do you worry or try to problem solve at night.
- Do you deal with things as they happen.
- How often do you pursue your hobbies.
- Does your home reflect who you are.
- Do you feel you are coping with life.
- Do you have difficulty sleeping.
- How is your general health.
Do you ever confront your junk and take action to clear your space.
These questions are meant to make you think about how you live your life,
and whether your clutter is effecting both your mental and emotional wellbeing
as well as your physical space and health.
The problem of clutter is probably much more wide spread than you think.
Most of us will suffer with the problem at some point during our lives.
Organisation comes naturally to some people, for others it needs to be
learnt. Which is where “In a Quandary” comes in. We can physically
help you to put right your current home, and then equip you with the skills
to keep it that way.
